Star Wars: The Old Republic
Star Wars: The Old Republic
So, I got in on the Beta... like everyone else... My thoughts?
The first 10 lvls, depending on your class choice, you might not get to group with guildmates. It seems the Sith Warrior and Inq start on their own homeworld and the BH and Agent on theirs. Once you get lvl 10, everyone converges on a new planet together. At that point we should all be together and can group up. Once you finish out your class quests at around lvl 14-19 you will be assigned a starship and can now move freely about the universe (At least I think so, never made it passed 14 and my class quest broke on me so I couldn't get there anyways).
The conversation scenes are amazing.... but can be long winded. ADD Kids take your ridalin. If you are grouped up, you can all take part in the convo and gain Social Points. When you are all in the conversation you will all get to watch the scene then make a choice. A roll is made and whoever wins the roll, their choice is what's presented to the quest giver.
My PC is a bit lacking, so I'm not sure how amazing it can really look... mines kinda... meh...ok, whatever.
It's fun and time consuming. I don't think it's a WoW killer but I do think it's got staying power. It's alot of fun to run circles as a BH around the melee types and blast them. As a tank standing with incoming missles and blasters I imagine would be very exciting as well.
Oh yeah, we fought a Jedi in one of the FLASHPOINTS(Instance) and it was a blast. Lotsa saber work, blaster deflections, saber clashes... Good fun there.
Anyone else play? I'd love to hear how you felt....

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I was able to get it for a little while this weekend but didn't get enough time to team up with any others.
Levels 1-10 were pretty easy and made it off Korriban (Sith homeworld). Only a few of the quests required more than 1 player which I didn't get to try.
Overall, it was pretty fun. My system was challenged by large indoor areas and was really bad when I finally got to the first world.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I was posting my weekend testing results on our official Dark Omen star wars guild page. I was wondering why no one was responding lol.
I really liked playing an Agent. It seems to be the least represented class and once I hit lvl 10 and became a sniper the fun really took off. I did that Black Talon flash point several times with several different class makeups. The easiest run through believe it or not was with a BH, BH, Agent group. We tore that jedi apart. The 2nd best mix was with Agent, Inq, BH.
I just went through there as a Marauder with an Agent and Inquisitor and my Marauder died at least 4 times. That was my least favorite class. I must be playing him wrong and will probably have to make a Sith Juggernaut if I want to tank. I will definitely be making an Agent Sniper.
I would say 2/3rds of the people are wielding light sabers, so playing a ranged DPS did stand apart from the pack... plus my Chiss agent looks just like an Old School EQ1 drow. It made me that much more happy with him.
I think the game has tons of potential and the voice acting and story telling are excellent. One thing Bioware kicks ass at is painting an engrossing storyline for your toon.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Oh and I was playing with my graphics because i was also getting a ton or framerate problems at first. I turned down the ground clutter to 0 and that helped immensely. I also turned graphics down to medium and it ran flawlessly, but I ended up turning them back to high and was happy enough with my framerate as long as ground clutter was off.
Also I didn't learn till today that there is an option under preferences that allows you to compare loot drops to both your and your companions equipped items at the same time. They call it companion comparison quick tips or some nonsense like that. It made equipping your companion so much easier.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I made lvl 16 and got my StarShip last night. You get to do some space battles... OMG, that was fun. I couldn't complete the mission, maybe because I was lollygagging at the space scene around me, but I did manage to try it about 4 times before they shut us down. There aren't that many planets to fly to right now, I'll assume we will get more as add ons later. As a BH I got a Slave One looking ship. You also get a second companion at that point. When your on the ground you can send him and her out at the same time on missions. Or keep one up for battles and send the other for missions.
You can also take other peeps for rides in your ship, once they get theirs. Unfortunatly, you can't team up on space battles... You can also buy upgrades for your ship.
Zooty, thanks for that Companion Update... That'll be nice later.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Oh another thing, my wow guild is forming over in TOR as well, I was thinking of making them allies to our clan in the game so if we needed some manpower for bigger missions we could use them to team up with.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
If you have a name, give it to me and I'll see if I can add them before launch. This should put us all on the same server.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Hey Guys,
Would you set Clan of Frolen as an ally. This is the guild that Shiner and his friends set up a few months ago.
I posted on the guild website for them to do the same.
Thanks,
Bril

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Soon as the site lets me back in I'll get it done.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Clan of Frolen is picking a server? What server are we picking? Might wanna be the same server... =)

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
neither guild picks a server, the game administrators pick. they say the will try to put allies on the same server.
being allies gives us a chance of being on the same server, i would like to be on the same server of all the people i am playing with.
changing servers all the time would just be a pain

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Hey all!
Long time no talk.
I didn't play the beta but I have pre-ordered and am looking forward to whatever early access I get.
Any room for me in the guild?
